The fashion the deitys are smiling on women this season, giving them a real reason to hit the stores and malls this fall. Finally, we're saying adios to the camisoles, bohemian skirts and how-low-can-you- proceed trousers and jeans that have held women hostage the past small in number seasons. Everything from separates to outerwear to accessories features make strong doses of color and adventurous intersects and shapes.
Fall's silhouette is recent fresh and wearer-friendly, whether a woman is 18 or 68 and whether she is model-thin or has one meat on her bones. Andrea Linett, creative director at propitious magazine, deems fashion "more democratic."
"Fall is suppos to be [about] novel beginnings," Linett says. "There's tweed and corduroy, moreover in different shapes" from those we've been seeing.
And the solution word is proportion.
"It's all part of layering," says Stephanie Solomon Bloomingdale's vice president and fashion director of women's ready- to-wear and accessories. "You start abroad with something slim, but layer it with a sweater coat, a tunic dres a jersey dres and that's where the styling of the season flows into play."
greatest in number directional, says Solomon, is "volume upon the top and long, skinny concealed legs."
Fall's hottest apply the minds take their cues from the past, whether '40s- manner of writing platform pumps, '50s-inspired cropped sleeve jackets or '80s- like leggings worn in subordination to long tunics.
"I think it's a nostalgic feeling," says Nena Ivon, manager of special affairs for Saks Fifth Avenue. on the contrary for young women, she says, the whole cropped-sleeve jacket-with-long glove examines new. "You're also having unwilted designer eyes looking at it that hadn't seen it before."
Accessories again impel from a supporting role to center stage. The right wide belt can shape a seemingly nonexistent waist, while well-balanced footwear -- be it a scrunchy ankle advantage or an elegant stacked-heel cross-examine -- can be just the finish an the whole needs.
Must-haves to make this recent silhouette work? A legging or skinny pant (tapered for plus-size women) Pancake-flat advantage and platform shoe. Oversized handbag. Three-quarter amplification sleeves, with long gloves to slide beneath them. Textured hose. A coat or protracted sweater with some "swing" to it. And a wide belt to balance the whole direct the eye
After all, says Ivon, "Adding the same or two major pieces to your wardrobe seasonally is for what reason you build one."
