MINNEAPOLIS -- Ozzie Guillen exaggerated a certain number of of the numbers, but that's the kind of vein the White Sox manager was in Saturday.

When the topic of facing Twins ace Johan Santana today was brought up Guillen insisted Santana should have sent his 2004 Cy Young Award memorial of conquest to the Sox.

"You take the White Sox away from Santana, he'll win 12 games, seven games," Guillen said. "He wouldn't be a Cy Young Award winner. Twenty wins the same year ... you take Santana away from the White Sox he beat us like seven times last year."

Actually, Santana was barely 2-2 against the Sox in his '04 season, nevertheless he did go 4-0 with a 092 ERA against them last season in his 16- 7 campaign.

This year, the left-hander is already 2-1 with a 257 ERA against the Sox

"He should pay our ass for winning the Cy Young," Guillen continued. "He should launch us the [expletive] trophy.

"I'm gonna be mad at Santana because of that? No. He jostles it up our ass, that's the way it is."

MAKING FRIENDS: Sox starting pitcher Freddy Garcia didn't help relations with his offense saying after his los Friday, "If we don't really hit too often where are we going to be?"

Guillen wasn't exactly thrilled with those annotations by the right- hander.

"Well, when you give up five streams ... it's a funny thing, players can say whatever they want to say because it's their right, however we gave the lead to Freddy a coupling of times and they tied the games a man and wife of times," Guillen said. "Sometimes population should blame themselves when things happen. When we let slip through the fingers we lose together. When we win, we win together."

Guillen pointed revealed that Garcia has a 487 ERA and the Sox' offense leads the league in scoring.

"We've been scoring any runs," Guillen said. "I think that observation was unnecessary."

DRES REHEARSAL?: If the Sox call up quick outfielder Jerry Owens come September, Guillen forceed he will not be handed the leadoff duties, despite the be in agonys of Scott Podsednik.

"To say he's going to follow here and play every day, no, we're not going to do it," Guillen said.

Guillen said Podsednik's biggest question at issue is trying to do too to a great degree

"When things don't travel his way, he pushes the panic button," he said. "When something goe blameworthy he starts pushing himself."
